My Story
I’m Sarah McCann and I’m a proud graduate of the University of Sussex. I grew up in California and then spent 5 incredible years studying for my undergraduate and masters degrees in Brighton, England. I earned a BA in Geography and Anthropology in July 2013, and an MA in Social Development in January 2015.
It was hard to achieve my dream. I was curious about moving to the UK from the age of 13, and my heart was especially set after touring the Uni when I was 15. This motivated me throughout high school because I had a clear goal. I didn’t know any other Americans who had done their undergrad degree in the UK, but I was determined.
Unfortunately, I had no idea how to get into university there. Neither did my family or teachers. Most adults in my life were supportive, but they didn’t know where to begin.
I do, and I can help you.
I can also dispel misconceptions so that you can make informed decisions.
Even though I’ve moved back to the US and started working in education, I have strong personal and professional networks in the UK. I’ve kept in touch with British academics, friends, and peers working as educators and policy researchers there. Not only do I enjoy making and maintaining these connections, I’m excited to leverage them in order to share more firsthand and relevant experiences with curious American students. You just might find that it’s a great fit for you, too!
